Motability Delays

Like many others I am suffering a ridiculous delay in delivery of my Motability car
I know all the issues surrounding supply of parts, etc but there is more to it than that.
Many dealers advertise brand new cars available immediately, or certainly within a few weeks, to private buyers. Motability customers seem to be excluded from such short delivery times from stock and have to wait for cars from the factory.
Surely this is a discriminatory business practice that needs to be looked into ?
Anyone else with similar.problems and issues with delivery times ?

I don’t think it’s just motability customers at all that are experiencing delays. I’m a member of a forum where people have waited a year for delivery of their vehicle and they are not mobility customers.
Just because they have a vehicle in stock it doesn’t mean it’s the exact spec of your choice.I placed an order for my current car in January 2021. Fully expecting to wait several months at least. Infact I was told about that timeframe from the dealer. To my complete surprise 3 months later I had a phone call telling me my car would be ready for collection in 3 days.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
I'm so sorry to hear you have been delayed in receiving your Motability car @davidb2010. As Poppy said, spec comes into play as well. I think sometimes when a vehicle is ready to go, it's a "you take as is" kind of situation.

When I went to order my current car they did warn me that I may have had to wait months. That is unless I wasn't too fussy about the colour, the model spec etc.
I gave them three choices of colour - white, grey or blue. I also gave them two levels of spec.
A couple of days later they telephoned me to say that they had a grey one with the top spec somewhere miles away. They had the car brought down and I paid them the balance of the £3600 deposit. The car was made available to me within three weeks of me going in to the showroom the first time
It's much easier to take what is on offer - a car is a car in any event.

I’ve not applied for the motorbility scheme because of the delays and just don’t have the mental capacity to go through the application process. Even though I feel like it would be helpful for me as I’m becoming more limited in my physical activity because of the stress of being disabled and it’s just making me more disabled.

Some dealers are quicker that others, it really depends on the make, model and spec of vehicle you want.

That wasn't the point I was making. It really doesn't matter what the AP is, if any, the important thing is not to be too choosy with the colour or spec of a car that you want.
I know full well that if I specified a particular colour and a spec the chances are that I would have had to wait months for the car to be built and transported to the UK.
It was the car that mattered not the colour or spec.
