i have been trying to go back to my specialist college since i moved to this rubbish care service and the managers keep saying we cant gurantee we will have a driving support staff on with you every week and said 'sorry' and left.
every other service ive been in made sure a driver was on with me, theyre a strange company, told me theres no drivers when they often had 3 at a time in the next door part of this place-no one else living here has a motability car or the disabilitys i have.
ive asked my CLDT social worker (who is awesome but new) is there no transport that can pick me up to go there and he said none he knows of.
im just wondering, is there no transport at all,to enable me to go to my old college?
i used to be took to another specialist college and i remember the social services paying for the taxis,i was about 20 at the time.
does anyone have any ideas how i can get to a college thats about an hour and a half drive from me? i cant aford taxi as all my HRM goes on the motability car and i also use my money to get petrol.
thanks very much.

Hello @catp
I'm sorry that you don't have any stability with the driver. I would ask your social worker if they could reimburse you for the travel. Although that would mean you having to pay for it upfront which I can understand could be an issue. Have you thought about highlighting the issue with your MP?0 -

Have you thought about highlighting the issue with your MP?hi again @h@Hannah_Scope thankyou! ive found the MP from that link so i really apreciate it, ive never even heard of him before.yes great idea ill email my social worker as well, hes just had a new conceshonary travel autherised by a transport person in the learning disability team and he told me yesterday itll take two weeks for the pass to get to me. i cant even use buses because of the noise but i found out to register on the disability door to door minibus transport you need one of these conceshonary passes for proving disability, i wish it meant i coud use this transport to get to the college but you have a max of 7 miles to travel, the college is an hour and a half away.i had once asked the college do they have transport that comes to manchester and they said they have lots of students from manchester (so youd think this woud make them put on some sort of transport? theyve got tons of minibuses donated to them) who go but there isnt any transport service by the college.0 -
That's great
Hopefully the minibus can get you to and from
It's a shame there isn't a transport system by the college. You never know, could be something that changes?

cheers!! ill still contact the local MP, and even the manchester evening news if need be. or do some fundraising.one of my bank support staff (so shes not on a lot with me but shes one usualy at least once a week) her other half works at the college so i might ask her to look into it for me as well.its honestly the best college ive never been thrown out of,lol.i had hydro therapy as part of my day there (i did one day a week, and a day centre the rest), back then i was unable to go in water at all as i had such severe sensory overload to water on my skin, so i had to wear a winter wetsuit (i can get away with a summer wet suit now). thanks to them i began going to places like sandcastle (the indoor waterpark place) in blackpool, but one of my two support staff were going down the slide once in front of me and she got stuck as not enough water went down after her lol,so the life guard walked down a little bit and had to bring her back, she thought i was to go down after that lol,i had to slide down the stairs on my behind.the entire ceiling in the college pool area is just one gigantic H track hoist so theres no where a person cant get to, and the staff will walk threw with a person in the hoist, they pass threw a huge hole in the wall where another staff is waiting to help the person. ive never seen anything as acesible as there pool. apart from the jacuzi, you had to be able to drag yourself into that, they hopefuly might have changed that by now though.0 -
Your local MP will be able to help with getting the word out too
That's an idea, especially if they have help and it isn't advertised well. That happens a lot unfortunately.
It sounds like they have been such a help to you! I really hope you can get back there. It's great to hear how accessible they are. Haha, oh dear! I bet the lifeguard got a laugh out of that0
