Death and Benefits

After the death of my sister this week, I've offered to help my BIL with sorting things out, as he's ever so slightly deaf and not in a good place
Not really knowing where to start.
My BIL gets the State Pension, plus they were/ are guardians through the courts/ Social Services for their 15 year old Grand-Daughter.
My sister received PIP and there was a claim through UC for Housing, not sure if there was LWRCA.
Any advice as to how to proceed would be eternally welcome, as would any help out there to point him towards
TIA

There's a service you can use to notify about benefits, etc, that you can see here, which may help with some of the above:https://www.gov.uk/after-a-death/organisations-you-need-to-contact-and-tell-us-once

I think because he no longer has a partner that's younger than him the UC will now end. For help with the rent he will need to claim housing benefit from his local Authority.He should also look at claiming pension credit (if there's any entitlement) but it will depend on his circumstances and how much his state pension age and whether he has other income such as other pensions. The pension credit can include extra for the grandchild (£72.31/week) See link. https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit/what-youll-get There's a pension credit calculator here which he should use. https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit-calculatorIf there's any entitlement to PC then he'll be entitled to full housing benefit and council tax reduction.Unfortunately because he's over state pension age he won't be entitled to Bereavement Support Payment.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -

Many thanks for the links and the condolences. It's appreciated.
I picked the death certificate up today and got the Unique Reference Number from the Registrar to get the ball rolling.
Still strange how a 2 year battle came to an abrupt end so suddenly. Just got to bang some heads together now with some nephews warring amongst themselves. Words along the lines of " Grow up and have respect for your mother" will be used ... -
@WelshBlue
Hi I hope your doing as good as possible at this sad time for yous.
As for nephews arguing it’s typical at a time like this, it always seems to cause friction.
A word from you will hopefully help.
Take care ❤️
