Hi guys, I have my telephone assessment tomorrow, it's my first time claiming, I suffer with fybromyalgia, IBS, asthma, depression & anxiety and are in the midst of investigations on my lungs, to say I'm a little nervous is an understatement plus it's with capita! I have my application Printed off with my answers, a lovely lady at our local Citizens advice bureau helped me fill it out.

- Great you've kept a copy of your claim form!.
- Ideally you should have given 1 or 2 recent, detailed examples of the difficulty you face doing/attempting each applicable activity/descriptor that is looked at with PIP, i.e. when exactly did this occur, where, what exactly happened, why did you have difficulty, did anyone else see this, & were there any consequences to this, if applicable?
- have a look at the PIP descriptors in this link, reading the notes at the end. The word 'reliably,' which is so important, isn't mentioned as such, but it's if you can't do an activity safely, to an acceptable standard, if you can't repeat it as often as would normally be expected, or if it takes you longer than a person without your disability. If you can't do an activity 'reliably,' say so, explaining why. Please see: https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/asset-library/personal-independence-payment-descriptors-and-scores-april-2023.pdf
- see if there were any gaps where you didn't give those important detailed examples for each applicable PIP activities/descriptors in your initial claim form. Try to include these in your assessment if asked about any
- if you're unsure about any question, just ask for it to be repeated. Take your time in answering, & don't just answer yes or no.
- make sure your phone is fully charged, & if you'd like someone there to support you, put your phone on speaker phone so they can listen in. Good luck.

Half hour to go, I I'm getting quite anxious now, I'm trying breathing exercises to calm myself, will let you all know how it went later on.0

I am mentally exhausted after my assessment, just have the anxious wait for the outcome, considering it was someone from capita and after the horror stories I have read I must say the young lady I spoke with was very nice (I may regret saying that later on), my assessment was a grand total of 96 minutes long ( 1 hr 36 m).0

Thank you for coming back to tell us how your assessment went @Dandy1923 - I have been thinking about you. Can't promise to keep everything crossed, as that would hurt too much, but hope you have a good outcome.
Please kindly keep us informed, & relax for now!

Thank you, Yes of course I will keep you updated1

@Dandy1923 I hope you have had some time to yourself after that! Keeping everything crossed for you0
-
@Hannah_Scope, unfortunately no chance with the children off school will get some me time when the new term begins.1
-
@Dandy1923 Are you counting down the days?0
-
@Hannah_Scope yes since the second day of holidays lol (that sounds bad), they are good kids as a rule but they are so close in age the constantly bicker and argue.0
-
Haha! Don't worry I have kids in the family with parents who feel the same!
The joys of the summer holidays!
