Hi does anyone here have any experience of pip appeals? Does it always go to appeal if the dwp then change their mind and agree with you? I lodged my appeal 28 days ago today can anyone tell me what to expect
thank you in advance.

I thought you considered your MR successful in May?
If you have since appealed, then yes, on occasion the DWP do sometimes make an offer before a Tribunal, tho I wouldn't rely on that occurring. Should that happen, then if happy with what the DWP offer, then you can choose not to proceed with your Tribunal.

Hi thanks for your reply, I don’t know how to mention people in comments here!
I asked them to look at my award from the start of my claim in 2017 as I believe I was not awarded the right amount of points then.
You are right I won my MR but that was only going back to 2021.
so I am now asking them to look at 2017 to 2021 because I don’t think I was getting the correct award at that time.

I'm a little confused, as you are out of time (it's 13 months) to ask for an earlier award to be looked at again. Did you get some advice before trying to appeal your award from 2017 to 2021? Or was this anything to do with the changes in PIP law (in which case you'd normally be contacted by the DWP)? This either related to the 'Engaging with other people' descriptor or  'overwhelming psychological distress' in the 'Planning & following a journey' descriptor.

Hi thanks for your reply, I did not ask for advice about appealing. I have a mental health condition and I was too unwell at the time to be aware I could appeal.
I needed assistance from support workers for communicating and engaging with people.
I have severe anxiety so the planning a journey and completing a journey would also apply.
It is a long shot but felt I should try.

Hi so I'm currently appealing to a tribunal regarding my belief that I have been marked wrong for descriptor 9 and 10.

Firstly can someone tell me if debt letters to me will be classed as some sort of evidence where I'm arguing I'm unable to make budgeting decisions due to impulsiveness I suffer with and spend money I don't really have or am unable to repay.

Secondly does someone know how true it is that the 2019 law change by the supreme court does now count prompting as a sort of social support for engaging with other people.

    Hi

I have started the tribunal appeal process as I feel I've been awarded wrong for point 10 budgeting decisions.

Can someone please tell me if debt letters will be accepted as some sort of evidence that I am unable to make budgeting decisions for myself.

This is on the basis that with my adhd I become impulsive and spend money I shouldn't spend and am unable to repay.

Also does someone know how true it is that in 2019 the supreme court made a judgment called the MM judgment on the fact prompting for descriptor 9 can be classed as social support.

    Thank you
