Hi - you just need to report on your journal (under change of circumstances) that you're now caring for your partner (if this is for 35 hours a week or more). You cannot get both LCW & the carer element at the same time, but will get payment for whichever element pays the most. Please see: https://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/Carers-with-limited-capability-for-work-Universal-Credit

Thanks for answering , I didn't want to claim previously as I wanted his renewal before I apply, do I lose the lcw status? I don't get any money for it I just wondering, can I also ask once I report the change is it straightforward procedure or do they call me into jobcentre? Will it also stop the jobcentre call in for lcw that I do currently? Atm I work part time and have to go in around once per few months0

As you don't receive the LCW element, you can just get the carer element added. With the carer element added you shouldn't have any work commitments, nor need to go to the jobcentre for appointments.

Thanks , when u initially report the change so they make u go in sounds daft but I have huge anxiety, or do they just do it and add it on0

After reporting on your journal, all you should have to do is check your next statement(s) to check that the carer element has been added. Just depends on when you get your payments as to whether there's enough time for it to be added to your next one.1
