Claiming ESA

Following a recent discussion regarding ESA, my daughter is 23 years old, 100% disabled has never worked & never will. She receives higher rate PIP & we get a carers allowance, according to.gov.uk you can claim ESA if you have been employed or an employer & if you have paid NI contributions for the last couple of years, obviously she has done neither. Is she entitled or not?

I did post a while back but working away from home & when I am home life is hectic. All she gets is higher rate PIP, as far as I am aware they are phasing out Universal Credit.0

Hi @Cxy007 - benefits are a bit of a minefield, unfortunately. However claiming UC for your daughter will go OK. You can start here by ringing the UC helpline on 0800 328 5644 to also become your daughter's appointee for this too. Please scroll down this page to 'Apply to become a Universal Credit appointee' : https://www.gov.uk/guidance/universal-credit-consent-and-disclosure-of-information#appointee0
