Hi I was awarded pip but had review and it's not been awarded I don't understand why as nothing as changed ,I have requested health assessors report and I rang to request Mr and now stressed worried if it's worth it as I have no further evidence etc as nothing at all has changed,I'm so confused and thinking of cancelling Mr request as I don't see it likely being overturned based on information they received etc and can't understand how it will change if someone else looks at it

Hi @Dollydrops - & welcome to the community. You don't need any further evidence with a MR other than perhaps your own. It is better to put your MR in writing rather than ringing, so I'd send a letter as well if you can.Remember PIP is not about any diagnosis, but rather how your disability affects certain activities of daily living &/mobility the majority of the time. Have a look again at the activities/descriptors that are looked at: https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/asset-library/personal-independence-payment-descriptors-and-scores-april-2023.pdf
With your MR you should say where you think you should have got points, & why giving a couple of recent, detailed examples as to the difficulty you face for each applicable descriptor, i.e. when did it happen, where, what happened, did anyone see this, & were there any consequences to attempting/doing an activity e.g. such as pain, fatigue or breathlessness, which should also be mentioned.
Say if you can't do an activity 'reliably,' i.e. safely, to an acceptable standard, repeat as often as one would reasonably expect, or if it takes you much longer than someone without a disability. See this mentioned at the end of the link above.
Put your name & National Insurance number on each page. Keep a copy, & get a free Certificate of Posting from your Post Office when sending it off.

Hi thank you for replying I just don't understand if the Mr request just goes to someone to read or if they gather any further information ie request further evidence from doctors (don't know if they contacted doctors in first place) as I have nothing else as nothing has changed medication wise etc,on claim 3years ago it was agreed I can't walk further than 25/30 metres and now it says I can do 50-200 I don't see how or why they have come to that conclusion as stated I ticked no changes etc and stated nothing different to health assessor,I was stunned when had letter but not sure now what a Mr would consist of and if it's worth the stress waiting0

It's says I decided you can walk 50-200 metres ,this is consistent with my medical history description of my day the available evidence etc,I don't understand how my condition has changed in past 3yesrs as my lung function has declined 3% since 2020 on first pip claim ,how have they reached that conclusion0

They don't usually contact a claimant's GP/specialist, & the assessor's don't always choose the right descriptors to reflect a claimant's difficulty. This is why it's important with a review to say, even if you've ticked no change, what hasn't changed, giving one or 2 real life examples as to your current difficulty. An assessor may not have seen your previous claim, so they need you to describe how you're affected, or they haven't got much to go on.If you've rung to ask for a MR, then another decision maker will look at your claim agaiin, but, as above, if you could send a letter, this may help, writing about the descriptors where you disagree as to what has been said.0

The health assessor tbf did say (not sure if she should have)don't worry if anything you have gone worse! As you appreciate this has made the decision letter so much worse I am stunned,I had letter Wednesday very upset and rang same day for Mr request then wasn't able to eat as stressed and restless night as well stomach was in knots so rang back yesterday to cancel it as couldn't imagine waiting 8weeks more for desision not to be overturned as they normally are not ,lady said yesterday she is not authorized to cancel so now waiting on manager to call today or tomorrow,Im at my witts end now and unsure what to do if I can0

I'm so sorry this has caused such an upset. Since it seems like a case manager is going to ring you, then just explain to them as you have here. I had a case manager ring me after my first assessment; the call only lasted about 15 mins & they were really nice & understanding. Try & look after yourself in the meanwhile.
