Hi, I got by post leaflet “ Get ready for Universal Credit Move” explaining that soon Tax Credits are ending.
Can someone explain the migration process from old ESA ( won case in the Court in 2018 ) to new system?
Can someone explain the migration process from old ESA ( won case in the Court in 2018 ) to new system?
Which system will be the most appropriate?
Should I automatically migrate to Universal Credit or I need to apply ?
Would my ESA be included?
I received additionally child benefit, child tax credit, housing benefit, council tax reduction, water reduction.
Please advise.
I didn’t got yet DWP migration letter yet just the leaflet.

It’s not an automatic process. Once you receive the migration letter you will need to claim it yourself.I copied the following from a thread I advised on a couple of days ago….When you receive the migration letter you will have 3 months to apply. If you don’t apply within that time then your existing benefits will stop.If you’re in the Support Group for ESA then you’ll be entitled to the LCWRA element from the start of your claim.Any contributions based ESA you maybe receiving will continue as normal but be deducted in full from any UC entitlement. If any part of the ESA is income Related this will stop 2 weeks after you claim UC.Also to add, Housing benefit also continues for 2 weeks. Tax credits will end once you submit the UC claim.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

I see we are having more of these threads lately and have had a think about this, this afternoon.Maybe it's a good idea to put a "sticky" at the top of the UC section and then we can post the link to that thread for members when they ask these questions. It would definitely save a lot of typing all the time.I would be very happy to start a thread for this, if you would like me to do that. I will try to cover as many areas as possible. Please just let me know if you would like me to do that and then one of the team could make it into a sticky.I know i won't be able to cover every single area but the basics would be a good start. I often find that some people prefer me to explain the steps rather than read a very long Gov.uk link which is very often more confusing and worries people even more.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I think a sticky thread would be a brilliant idea thank you, it'll certainly make things easier for everyone!
I'm more than happy to write it up though. But I'm pretty sure I'll have missed some information that your knowledge will be able to fill.Albus (he/him)
