My son was born with malformation of his hands and feet which make him struggle with everyday day things he has been on dla for a number of years both high rate he will move over to pip in the new year the only thing I'm concerned about is he hasn't had any consultations and has had all the plastic surgery and operations that they can provide. He won't attend physiotherapy or any other therapist as he struggles with people judging him and looking at him. I'm worried this will go against him when applying for pip has anyone ever had a similar experience his disability is something he was born with and it isnt go to get better. Has anyone any advice for me switching over . Thank you in advance

I wouldn't be concerned about the lack of consultations, seeing therapists, etc. as PIP is less about any diagnoses, & rather about looking at some everyday day activities &/mobility, & can these activities be done 'reliably.' There would certainly be no harm in saying exactly why he no longer wishes to have any therapy. Please first look here about the activities/descriptors that are looked at with PIP: https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/asset-library/personal-independence-payment-descriptors-and-scores-april-2023.pdf then a longer read, & please note the section on 'Reliability:' https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/personal-independence-payment-assessment-guide-for-assessment-providers/pip-assessment-guide-part-2-the-assessment-criteriaPlease come back before completing his claim form, as I'm sure you'll receive both advice & support from our members. For now I hope you read some of the above to help understand the difference between DLA & PIP, & that this helps, tho I think you have a good understanding having claimed PIP yourself.1
