    Hello @ford1

Welcome to the community! :) Are you keeping well?

Congrats on being awarded PIP, will keep everything crossed with your ESA assessment. The GOV webpage has a list of benefits that are effected by the benefit cap. ESA is on there. They also give advice on what to do if you are effected by the benefits cap and what the amounts are. Hope it helps!

That's great news! No, you will not be affected by the benefits cap because of the PIP award.

As it's New style ESA that you're claiming have you checked entitlement to Univeral Credit? If you live with a partner you'll need to claim as a couple and your joint circumstances will be taken into consideration.

Your ESA will be deducted in full but if you're placed into the Support Group after the work capability assesment you'll be entitled to the LCWRA element of UC from the 4th month of your claim.

Use a benefits calculator to check entitlement. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/benefits-calculator if you hav savings/capital of more than £16,000 you're excluded from claiming.

Thank you so much, I’m claiming esa but also £1.27 for universal credit? Sorry I just don’t understand it all to be honest as first time I’ve ever claimed anything, I have just under £1500 in savings and live alone.

thanks for all the help, I’ve been so anxious as never even knew about pip until my work coach at DWP told me and this site has helped massively with guidance so thank you all
