hi I have a query I’ve been on dla then pip since 2011 due to a life long illness, I was ill health pensioned off from my work, ironically the DWP . In 2019 I received no points at all however I appealed , my award end date was 08/11/19 but it was 2020 before appeal which was awarded for 2 years , at this time my husband who was 53 had a major stroke which turned our life’s upside down trying to deal with my problems and then be a 24/7 carer was not easy and my mental health and memory problems have declined massively. I was actually sitting just last week and I had a flashback about my pip end date I thought I had it wrong being 2years award as it’s now 2 years after that date, however on checking my appeal letter states for 2 years . I’m now in a state of anxiety as I’ve not heard a thing from Dwp and I know I should have contacted them but I honestly didn’t even give it a thought till it came into my head last week.when I contact them will my money stop immediately or will I have to do a review which will take months, I can’t believe this has happened why didn’t they contact me .

Hi @linda2588, first of all welcome to our community. I hope we can support you with this situation you find yourself in.
First of all, the PIP money is still coming through right? The DWP are supposed to send review forms out by letter roughly a year before your award is due to end.
Now, I know this is a really stressful thing, I've been through (and currently going through) the PIP process myself. But you've done this before and you can do it again. You should call the DWP and ask when exactly your reward is meant to end, and if one is needed can you have a review done. Remember reviews have the same appeal processes as applications that helped you last time.
On another note, do you receive any benefits for being a carer to your partner? If not you should be eligible for some benefits via that as well.
Just going to move this over to our PIP category as well1 -
thank you currently both myself and my husband receive pip and as I’ve been struggling with my health before my husband’s stroke he’s actually receiving carers for me , I enquired about this but we’re down as caring for each other in our uc claim. I receive esa support group so both his carers and my esa are deducted from uc but we receive carers element, when I make Dwp aware of this can they stop my payments immediately, I have support from various groups, fife carers and epilepsy support who help with forms as I struggle, I saw people were getting extension of 12 months but their date was after mine and they were informed so they at least feel safe as Dwp has confirmed when date it’s extended to , I will contact my support worker as I feel I’m going to have to make a new claim but can they ask for money to be repaid I genuinely didn’t know0

Your ESA Support Group and the LCWRA element for UC will not be affected because they are completely different. You haven't answered the question that Jimm asked, is your PIP still being paid?If so did you fill out a review form at anytime in the past (but forgot you did this) and still waiting for a decision on that? There's extremely long delays with reviews but your PIP would continue until a decision is made anyway and no they don't always inform you that it's been extended. As your UC includes the LCWRA element for yourself then you shouldn't also be receiving the carers element for yourself for looking after your partner because both elements can't be paid to the same person. In this situation your UC should include one LCWRA element and one carers element.1

Hi yeah sorry it’s still in payment, you’ve made me think I normally keep a copy but can’t see one for after that period but it’s not out of the question, yeah I get the lwrca so my husband gets the carers element , we’re classed as caring for each other, if I call and ask for review if my end date has passed will they stop my payments? I think I’m going to get my support worker to help as it’s getting a bit much for me and trying to deal with my husband we have carers and social work doing reviews I’m tired so it’s possible I’ve just forgot but I’ve def not received extension letter , so if I don’t get any award will i be due then 2 years at nearly full award0

Before ringing PIP to ask for a review form I’d advise you to ask them if you’ve returned another form in the past because you can’t remember if you did. They will be able to tell you.If one has been returned then there will be no need to ask for another.1

Thanks for your help I will let you know what the result is0

Hi thanks for your help I called pip this morning and was advised I completed a review in 2019 and award runs until September 2024 , she advised I might receive review forms soon to hopefully be reviewed by award end date or I might be given an extension on my award , i feel better now but it’s also worrying I didn’t realise my memory was getting worse, thanks for your help0

I'm glad you got an answer @linda2588 and that you now feel better for it. You have time to get it all sorted as they do send the forms quite early most of the time. If you need help when the forms arrive we're here
If you are worried about your memory is there any family or friends who can support you? Just little reminders now and then or something like that?1 -
I’m in touch with a worker from fife carers , it was actually carol who helped me last time and the reason I didn’t have copies like I normally had was she done it online, carol has said she’d be happy to help when I receive forms again , my husband has been notified recently he’ll be getting moved over to adp in November but I don’t know if it’s because he’s received an ongoing award recently, I’m just glad I finally got to bottom of it , my situation has if anything got worse since 2021 so I’m hoping it goes through easily, if I get stuck I would truly appreciate help I’m so happy I’ve come across this site tbh I don’t know how but I believe people like myself benefit from helpful people like yourselves.0
