How to manage a date when we’re both wheelchair users

I’m feeling quite anxious as my long distance girlfriend and I are going to go on a date for the first time but how do we actually manage the date. Like she is an electric wheelchair user so she’ll be fine being able to go out and cross roads and stuff but I’m a manual wheelchair user and it gets quite tiring pushing myself everywhere and crossing roads without someone pushing me is pretty much impossible as I always tip back

    Sorry to hear about the issues @N826. I imagine you'd also rather not have someone else on the date pushing you around as well? 

    I'm not a wheelchair user so I'm sorry if I say something not suitable due to lack of experience, but I know me and my partner have dates just in our own home much of the time. Ordering in, cuddling watching films or TV etc. She gets fatigued very easily so we tend to avoid a lot of walking, so if we do go out we tend to get a taxi directly to and directly from whatever location our date is at. Is it possible to book an adapted taxi service in your area that can accomodate 2 wheelchairs?  Or is a collapsible wheelchair a temporary option?

    Again, sorry if these are either things you've already considered or not suitable option. I hope some of our wheelchair community members pop by with their ideas!

    Yes, I feel like someone pushing me around would be unfair to that person. That is a good idea, I don’t think there are any taxi’s that can take two wheelchairs but I may just have to get a taxi for myself and she can take the bus and we’ll meet there. It does help thank you! My pronouns are she/her by the way
