Hi Community
I have read past posts going back some years, but would really like to know if any rules have changed on purchasing a home for our daughter.

It is very worrying as currently she rents, these costs are increasing so rapidly not sure how much longer she can afford as she is single with no children. We would like to use our savings to purchase a property to ensure she is safe and secure for her lifetime. Can you advise if she would still be able to receive her ESA as we know this is subject to specific conditions.
Ant advise would be gratefully appreciated as very difficult to get information.

The house you live in is disregarded from all means tested benefits.
If she claims for help with any rent at the moment she would of course lose that if you buy her a house.
However there could be other implications to this and before doing anything else you need to get some expert advice. Some information here https://www.litrg.org.uk/tax-guides/savers-property-owners-and-other-tax-issues/capital-gains-tax/capital-gains-tax-gifts
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -

Thank you everyone, we always knew it would not be plain sailing, will get down to some bedtime reading.

It's straight forward for her benefits (apart from help with the rent) it's just the other part that may not be.
