Hi, can I just ask a few questions first if that's okay @wish? I know this is really frustrating and worrying, I hope you can get back on carer's allowance as soon as possible.

Were you £52 over based on your average earnings or was it just the one week? They can sometimes average the earnings out, if this has not already been done so.

Also, have you already tried speaking directly to a benefits advisor? Such as one at your local Citizen's Advice?

Carers UK also have some advice on  the earnings limit and about the averaging out of pay. Was it made clear to the carer allowance team you spoke to that this was a single instance boost and not a permanent pay increase?

For instance, they cover that a bonus can mean you do lose your carers allowance for a month, if you are paid monthly but you should then receive your carers allowance again.

Although carers allowance can be averaged out it can still be annoying when claiming UC because carers allowance is just deducted in full anyway.

When carers allowance stops because you went over the limit for earnings UC will still deduct the whole amount. This is because carers allowance and UC do not communicate well. Getting this sorted with UC is always a complete nightmare.

You do not need to claim carers allowance when claiming UC and you can just claim carer element, which doesn’t have the earnings limit like carers allowance does. (Assuming you’re not claiming the LCWRA element for yourself) both elements can’t be paid to the same person.

It would be worth considering stopping the carers allowance and just continue with carers element.
