I have been off work now for 7 month’s following a serious work incident which had a huge impact on my mental health. I have just received my first payment of esa (though still in assessment phase) though I’m still in receipt of half pay sickness salary from my employer. I don’t mean to sound ‘sneaky’ but will my employer discover (maybe via HMRC) that I’ve qualified for esa, as I feel this would encourage them to stop my half pay? I’d forwarded an email from my wages dept to inform esa that SSP had ceased.

Your employer will not know that you're now claiming ESA.
