Child DLA Awarded - When do monthly payments start?

Good afternoon,

I received a phone call and a text from DLA today confirming my child has been awarded DLA. My query is when can I expect monthly payments to begin? I understand they are paid on Tuesdays, but was wondering whether it is based on when I receive back pay, or when I started the claim.

Any money owed will be paid separately. You should receive that before the decision letter. DLA is paid every 4 weeks and not monthly. What day of the week it's paid on is different for everyone but it will be a week day, not a weekend. 

The decision letter will tell you what day to expect the 4 weekly payment. Your first 4 weekly payment will be about 4 weeks after the money owed goes into your bank.

New here 
I had same on 3rd November 2023 but still haven't received back pay or letter. Mine was after going to tribunal but when I call I don't get any answers just all information I confirmed is still correct as been passed on to department sorting back pay and future payments

Hey @momof3 and welcome to the community.   

If yours was via tribunal, there can sometimes be a fair delay as they need to cross all the t's and dot the i's.

So glad you got a positive result!  Though the wait is usually the worst bit.
