Jeremy Hunts plans on long term sick worry me .
    Me too.
I don't have TV or radio but get news off the inet and apple85 on this forum.
I know people say worry about it when it happens... But we need to be ready to stand together, have some form of defense, and be prepared for the worse.
I personally am alone with no family or friends, and stand to lose benefits, my home, and my sanity if this stuff goes thru.
Also imho the govt are trying to get the public, 'the taxpayer', on their side.
And I believe a lot of people on this forum are suffering from depression and anxiety in various forms. These are two mh issues classed as 'low grade' and we are the people they would be targeting if their proposals go thru.
They are going to make a great deal of people already struggling a whole lot worse with these proposals... if they go thru.
But we must be prepared.  I will be leaning on Scope as I have no one else.

Bless you @Bettahm , I don't have tv on in the day but pop the TV on around 6pm just for curiosity I suppose. I'm sorry to hear you have no family or friends thats not a nice situation to be in bless you always.  Yes I have mental health issues too . I'm awaiting an assessment for autism and adhd but the waiting time is forever.  Hopefully sticking together will help our situation. I'm with you all the way . God bless you. Please take care of yourself and please be kind to yourself too.  Sending a big hug 🤗.

I'm blessed that I have the autism diagnosis, it was that that got me LCWRA on social engagement mainly. I got pip before the diagnosis with the tribunal saying I found social engagement psychologically distressing and the descriptor about making decisions .
I waited two years for the autism diagnosis after steps to change referred me. Believe the wait is longer now. This is the kind of stuff the govt should be sorting out, waiting lists.

Really glad you got your diagnosis @Bettahm .  I'm not very sociable at all . I definitely prefer to be on my own . Whoa 2 years is a very long time . I know if I get called up it will distress me . I will also be telling them about my back issues and my IBD.  The tablets I've been given for my back make me feel drunk and tired . Yes waiting times do need sorting . Thank you for your time today.  Just take care of yourself please.  Here's to supporting one another. God bless you.

Think waiting lists are long throughout the nhs. Not heard anything from the pain management clinic. Thought they might acknowledge receipt of my referral back in September. Emailed them twice, no reply.
Sort out the NHS Mr Hunt and let's have a public enquiry into gps!
Blessings to you Strawberry1. So glad we are under the Scope umbrella, together we have a voice out there.

@Bettahm  , I'm so sorry to hear you are having issues with the pain clinic . The way things are going people it seems people are going to be waiting ages.  I was told once because people like Mr Hunt probably use private health care they are not bothered about everyday people it doesn't matter to them . The may walk the walk and talk the talk but it's all utter rubbish. Please remember what a good person you are and always be kind to yourself.

Would even just like them to acknowledge receipt of the referral. If only because my gp has told me they have done a referral in the past (eye clinic) when in fact they hadn't! So basically they lied. So how can I be sure they haven't done it again.
I am no longer able to contact them due to mh issues. Something else they dont understand. I will keep emailing the pain clinic.

It's respectful to let patients know @Bettahm , I don't know what excuse they would come up with that they haven't done that . I can also believe about they lying too . Similar hospitals and clinics have done the same to other parents which is not good in their part . It's utterly ludicrous. I'm not good at getting in touch with places like that either due  to anxiety etc so I know where you coming from there . We can only  do so much with regards getting in touch with such places then the ball is in there court . I think a lot of care within the NHS  has disappeared.  I don't think they have the patience with patients anymore which is a real shame.  At some places people are just treated like cattle its despicable.  Hold on in there we will get through this . One thing we can do is support each other here which is really good to know . Remember how important you are and remember to be kind to yourself.  Take care of yourself.  Sending a few more hugs.

Your welcome @Bettahm . So sorry to hear how lots of departments of the NHS have let you down . Maybe they should put more money into it instead of stuff that is not nessasary.  A new start is definitely needed.

The govt know full well it has happened in the past, is still happening, and, if they go ahead with all their plans they are extremely callous.
Cant believe they will be allowed to bring in the reforms they have suggested.

Well something has to be done to try to curtail the ever expanding welfare bill. Maybe this is the time for us benefit claimants to come up with a plan that will achieve the same end?

We can’t do anything about people coming to retirement age unless you want to increase that again. As for sick and disabled people there is no magic wand.
Increasing funding to the NHS would help so that sick people aren’t waiting years for treatments which if successful could allow people to work again if they are able.
The current government has decreased funding year over year making the record waiting lists much worse.
Austerity also causes more sickness due to cold homes, bad diet and mental health problems. Again made much worse by the current regime.
Starving and freezing the sick and disabled is not working, obviously, so we just have to accept there is going to be a percentage of the population who are unable to work. We should give support to those who wish to return to work and are able to do so not threaten them.

I believe the issue is that we as humans are living longer and the world around us is getting more toxic.  So more people are claiming benefits, this includes pensions. There was an increase of 1.1% (roughly 140k people) in pension claimants and 2% for PIP/ESA, but a decrease of 30% for housing benefits.  A lot of pensioners are also claiming disability benefits.

For benefits, well over half of claimants are for pensions, so this isn't just about people claiming universal credit or PIP. The government cant stop people claiming their pensions, so they have to move their focus elsewhere and unfortunately, the long term sick appear to be their new target.

Just my 2p on a personal level.

I'd of thought it was pretty obvious they need to put more money into the nhs and leave the welfare system alone.
For instance, if they take away my LCWRA apart from the fact I'd lose my home, I'd lose free dental care so would have to go to a and e with mouth problems and hope they just remove all my teeth.
This is all theoretical as I have agoraphobia and cant go anywhere. And talking therapies dont work for me so one size does not fit all, mr hunt.

There's a lot more information coming out that shows talking therapies do not work for neurodivergent people, so Mr Hunt will be spending a lot of money on things that won't help many people.  Plus talking therapy clinics are very much understaffed, so I'm not sure how they plan to get around that.

It'll definitely put more of a strain on our poor NHS.

They told me at my diagnosis that CBT doesnt work for neurodivergents.
Get the feeling hunt and his team have not looked into this whole thing with any kind of compassion at all.
Always one size fits all, treat them like cattle.

Should extra money be paid to pensioners who simply are already financially comfortable?
Should they get all of the add on's - heating allowance etc or even increases to the State Pension?
Should it not be for the applicant to prove any and all illnesses/disabilities that would stop them from carrying out some paid work and why?
