Hello, I have recently applied for PIp due to fibromyalgia, generalised anxiety disorder/depression and ongoing balance issues due to long term ear perforations and severe deafness. I applied on 22/9 and had a telephone assessment on 10/11 last Friday I got a text saying we have received your report and can be up to 8 weeks….
this afternoon I had a call from a lady at the DWP who after security informed me I had been awarded both the enhanced rates for a period of 2 years and said she was satisfied with the information I had provided and that the application and evidence was comprehensive. She asked me a quick question about how long prior to my fibromyalgia diagnosis I was getting symptoms (well over a year) and then told me I’d be due to arrears and due to the amount, would this be okay in a lump sum and do I have support in place? She also said the rates and that I would get a letter and that she was hoping to finalise this today or tomorrow latest. Has this happened to anyone else? Will I receive a text message which most people have had from what I’ve read? She said the first payment will go in in 3-5 days, is that money from the start of the claim to the day of the decision or including the first month? Sorry I’m very overwhelmed.

Not everyone receives a text. Money that’s owed will not include your first 4 weekly payment, it will just be money that’s owed paid up until the cut off point. You will receive your first 4 weekly payment about 4 weeks later on the same day of the week between Monday and Friday. The decision letter will tell
you what day of the week to expect your payment.Usually you will receive money owed before the decision letter.1 -
Thank you both. It’s a really confusing process. She mentioned it being around 1500 pounds which by my calculation is from the date I claimed to this week, so does that mean the payment will then start in 4 weeks time? That’s really good to know and I will keep checking my banking. I almost cried on the phone. I had worked so hard on my application and really took my time and collated all the evidence I could and still was expecting to be told no, I’ve read a lot of case stories and things so it was a real help and will help me now I have to drop my hours at work due to my illness. Thanks again.0

You will need to wait for the decision letter because it will tell you what date the money owed is paid up until. You then count 4 weeks from that but as I advised the letter will tell you which day of the week your payday is.It does help a lot when you fill in the form with detailed relevant information.1
