hi i currently have a lease and car with motability shortly after we picked up the current buckle 3 years ago around Xmas time my partners was pulled over for a breath test which was fine then the police officer said to my partner you realize your not insured to drive this motability car we were dumb founded . The car was impounded and we paid for recovery.we then discovered the salesman had not added my partner but gave her the keys when we went to collect it and off we went . Motability were informed and after investigation was decided we could keep the car and lease and my partner could still drive but to inform rsa at the time of any resulting convictions which we did she was convicted for no insurance! I informed rsa and they said it’s all noted and she has been driving in the named drivers for the past 3 years. 6 months ago my father came to visit to go with me to order our new car my partner wasn’t with us so we ordered our new Kia with my dads details we thought and sales man said we can add Andrea your partner later or before you pick up your new car when it’s in because she is obviously already on your current lease .Our car is now at the dealership waiting to be picked up I have my pin everything but now my partners license won’t go through because of no insurance on license even though she’s been on current lease for 3 years . She is my only way of getting out ? I have contacted direct line they said it’s something for motability to decide I contacted them 2 days ago and told somone will be calling me ? But still no call car is waiting should I call them again I’m in such a panic! She and car is my only life line ?

Hi @richie1, welcome to the community!

I'm so sorry to hear you've not had much luck with your motability lease.  I'd definitely give them a call back regarding this. I hope it can be sorted out quickly for you.

I can appreciate what you say but unfortunately having no insurance is a black and white conviction.
I would have thought this should be settled with the insurer and not Motability?
As a word of warning to everyone never accept what a dealer says you should always check yourself.

Im sorry to hear you've had a nightmare with your lease.Im totally fuming at the moment with the new direct line insurance.I have been named driver on my son's mobility car for 19 years. He has autism, very severe learning difficulties and non verbal. He now lives in a care setting flat with 2-1 staff. He is extremely challenging and can only be taken out in car for drives everyday in a special harness. He has managed to pull the ceiling out of place in his vehicle so he cannot go out due to being able to pull at electrics.Care setting booked in to garage it came from as they have a body shop for the 25 already been 5 days since not been able to go out and is extremely challenging at best of times and now routine of drives everyday it's constant for staff he runs at people like there's nobody in and pinches ,bites and the rage is like nothing I've ever seen.Runs at walls ,doors windows etc.Damages and pulls sinks extractor fans and anything he can whilst challenging and whilst his routine his car out of use is constant. He doesn't understand he did the damage so he can't go out in it.Care setting removed car to another one of their settings as him seeing his car is making it worse that he can't go for his drive. It has a tracker on it as they do if living in care settings so i phoned notability to let them know.Mentioned the damage told them its booked in and they told me to tell direct line insurance. They then started filing a claim and said it would have to go to their garage of choice miles away and who knows when and how long it will be . Sending out a euro car godknows when and what.Needs to be a 7 seater as can reach driver in normal car.Wears a special harness.Needs to be quick and as booked in on the 25 told them the situation and will not authorities garage where came from to do it.They may not charge if wasn't in properly in 1st place or very little and wont let me cancel claim and pay myself or any kind of help offers.Im absolutely disgusted and in 19 years never had an experience like this.I have another mobility car also named driver for my other son now the other one is not at home.I have slightly dented wheel arch no scratches and just needs to be pushed back out and two coin size debts on either side of passenger door.I told them about this whilst on phone and blow me down they making a claim for this which in past Rsa would never do this as its slight damage.Motabilty haven't anything to say and i imagine alot of customers are going to get the same.Im now going to have 2 claims on my insurance when i had none. Either car doesn't need to claimed on.The Garage is reputable to do work and insurance not tried to help in a desperate situation and trying to make money and shoot our insurances up if we ever buy a car.Best thing motabity can do is get shot of them.Never would I use their insurance if I was paying and everyone being aware they don't care one bit about your situation.
