Hello community!

My name is Finbar and I work for a charity called Access Social Care. We provide free legal advice and support to people in England to get the care they are entitled to.

We've developed a legal chatbot that delivers legal information about community care and welfare benefits, to older or disabled people, their families, and carers. The chatbot is designed to take the user through their situation and identify a letter that they can send to help resolve the problem they face. The chatbot is free to use.

We're currently in the process of adding new content to the chatbot in relation to securing equipment, especially around wheelchairs and adaptations. We'd really appreciate your thoughts and experiences in this area around any of the following themes.

If you would like to talk in person please get in touch with me via email and I can arrange a convenient date and time for us to talk about your experiences. My email is finbar.mulholland@accesscharity.org.uk

If you would like to use the chatbot please visit the Access Social Care website at https://www.accesscharity.org.uk/

Thank you in advance for any comments, you'll be helping to inform content that will be vital in helping individuals get the care and support they are entitled to.

  • Can you tell us how you went about getting the wheelchair?
  • How long did it take to get the wheelchair? What affected the length of time it took?

  • Did you go anywhere for advice when you were going through this process? Did anything in particular help?
  • How was the wheelchair funded?

  • Can you tell us how you went about getting this equipment or adaptation in place?
  • What went well, what didn’t go so well?
  • Did you have to have an OT visit as part of that process? If so, how was that arranged?
  • How long did it take to get the OT assessment?
  • Who funded the eventual adaptation or equipment?
