Why does my landlord need my Pay Stubs to rent me the apartment? What is a proof of income?

You will find this is the 'norm' for landlords nowadays and is quite understandable to ensure a tenant can afford the rent each month. Proof of income can be many things but is completely dependant on your own situation, if you're working you can use your last 6 months wage slips and/or bank statements showing your salary being paid in, if unemployed you can show a copy of benefit award letters and bank statements again showing proof. You may also wish to show savings account statements as further 'back-up' but isn't mandatory unless the landlord would like a copy of this.john951159 said:Why does my landlord need my Pay Stubs to rent me the apartment?
