One line at a time Christmas story

It's back... And this time it's Christmassy!
For anyone who wasn't around at Halloween, we wrote a spooky story together where each person could only write one sentence at a time. It was strange, it was spooky, it was interesting. Literary critics worldwide were both confused and amazed in equal measure. So let's do it again for Christmas!
As before, you can only write one line at a time. You can write just a few words if you can't think of a whole sentence, and you can also end the sentence on a cliffhanger if you'd like to. So for example, if I wrote:
"It was Christmas Eve in Santa's workshop and the elves were working hard on the new sleigh."
The next person could continue:
"Rudolph's harness was looking extra sparkly this year, but there was just one problem..."
And so on. This time, don't let it end until Christmas. Be creative, try to keep it going as long as you can and we'll see where we end up!
