Hi my name is Lesley, I currently receive housing benefit, Esa&pip, my landlord has said that his is thinking of selling his properties, I have just joined the council waiting list and if moved in to a new property would I still be able to make a claim without having to move onto universal credit

If you remain in the same Local Authority then you will be able to remain on your existing benefits. This is because you're already claiming Housing Benefit and it would just be a change of address. If you move to a different local Authority then you will need to claim UC for help with any rent. This will then end any Income Related ESA you're claiming, 2 weeks after you claim UC.0

Is it true that everyone will be asked to claim unival credit by 2028Those claiming just Tax credits have already started receiving their managed migration letters. Those that are claiming Income Related ESA will not be migrated across until at least 2028, unless they are also claiming Tax credits.1
