Hi guys. I'm new here. Hope somebody can help. I went for new specs this morning. I'm on basic universal credit and wrca. I claimed free eye test. My problem is why I only got a voucher to cover cost of specs but it was only for?£40. Is this correct. Has anybody had this problem. TIA

Heya @Zafar and welcome to the community. How're you today?
I'm not able to give you any answers here, but hopefully some of our super regulars will be along soon and be able to offer some advice.0 -
Hi there! The starting voucher is £41.70 for single vision lenses then it goes up from there, depending on your needs. If you look on the NHS site, it explains it & has the values. I have just had new glasses & I got the above, plus some extra as I needed prisms. Hope that helps. To save you searching, above is the link to the NHS sight site.

The NHS has fixed amounts it will pay depending on your vision needs. In reality it rarely covers the whole cost of your glasses.1

@Zafar, I would definitely call & ask them to explain it. I received paperwork with the various figures & even that is confusing with minuses for lots of things, but the basic A rate was there, plus for the prisms. Not sure about other bits, but at least they came off the final bill.0
