managing anxiety + complex trauma by engaging potential freelance clients?
lol i'm back posting in the employment section woop woop
i've finally managed to settle on a plan as on what to do. i'm hoping to move into freelance editing and other related things (being vague for privacy).
I'd be curious to know if there's anyone on here who managed to start freelancing and could overcome the anxiety reaching out to potential clients, building a brand, having a public presence online etc.
this anxiety is what's holding me back and i need to learn how to manage it. i know it's a result of complex trauma from childhood and i've really stepped into processing that as of late. i've only recently found good resources on how childhood trauma and cptsd affect someone's ability to work and how to work on it practically.
which is nice as i've been looking for years and people's advice has been limited to "get a therapist" (which dosent exist in the UK unless you pay for it)( or "guess you cant do it") which is equally unhelpful advice. so i'm really taking advantage of my motivation to get stuff off the ground. i know once I'm in the swing of things I'll be OK as freelance is by far the best option for me given it gives me the control i need to help heal my inner child.
thank you

Heya @Stellar I'm loving to see your plans are coming together nicely, I'm excited for you!
I think you answered your own question there when you said "I know once I'm in the swing of things I'll be OK"
Therapy will definitely help manage the C-PTSD, but it'll be a slow process. I found EMDR really helped me with mine, which I got free from a local talking therapies service. A friend with very bad anxiety went freelance last year and had said the way he overcame the anxieties of reaching out was simply by doing it. He was sick the first few times he did it, but as he got used to it, the anxieties lessened. They didn't vanish, but it did get a load easier for him.
Have you looked into a site like Fiverr? People can search your skills out that way, so no approaching anyone.0
