I work for Immigration Enforcement and have done so for the last 29 years.  I was diagnosed with Menieres Disease 14 years ago and have  managed it and got on with it  Things last year drastically changed i was having more attacks hearing was getting worse, stressed, depressed  had a breakdown ... i have been on sick leave since July 2023, had an OH appointment on 6th December who have stated i am unfit for the work that i do.  There are no other reasonable adjustments that can be put in place and no other work available.  I have asked about WFH but employers have said there is none.  What happens now ... i am new to this ... i am 58 years old any advice would be appreciated thankyou

Hi @hillkim65 welcome to the forum. Sorry to read about your illness and not being able to do your job. If OH have stated your job is no longer suitable for you and there is no lighter duties etc, then your employer should be dismissing you on health grounds.
Have you had a meeting about this with your employer?  You should receive a pay out sum also.
Are you in a works union? Who can attend meetings with you.

I have not had any contact with my employers since before going to the OHS on 6th December Do I need to contact them as I am sure they have also received a copy of the OH Report.  I do belong to a Union and will arrange for someone to be with me at any future meetings that I will need to have.  Thank you Sandi_123  for your reply and for the information you have attached for me to read.

@hillkim65 they should be contacting you, keep putting sick notes in and definitely get your union involved.  They will get best deal for you.
I know its not easy to stop doing a job through illness, but the struggle is real, it will take some getting used to.
You may be able to apply for benefits like pip, maybe other benefits after you leave work. You may also be able to do a different job,  those are the things you can consider also. Best of luck and keep us informed
