Hi I was awarded today the lcwra and first submitted evidence a year ago of this. Universal credit lost my forms by admission and only just sorted it.I received the award letter on my journal today. How long is it until I start receiving the payments from now?

Hi @chalkyman - & welcome to the community. Please would you say the exact date you declared your health condition/submitted your 1st fit note, & if these fit notes have been continuous until you got a decision on your Work Capability Assessment (WCA). Also do you know the dates for your assessment period, or the date when you receive your UC payment each month. You can check these dates on your journal. Was this your 1st WCA?Unfortunately it may take some time to calculate what you're owed, but it can be worked out from when your backpayment was due.0

@chiarieds hello and thank you for your help. I first submitted fit note on 31st January 2023. Sent the forms in June 2023 they then lost them so had to re do it and sent them in September 2023. I got the decision today to award me the entitlement. We get universal credit on 26th of each month and it runs 21st to 22nd each month. Hope this helps0

Just to check, you mention you first submitted a fit note 31st of January. Have there been any gaps since then or have you had a fit note to cover all dates from January last year to now?0

@Jimm_Scope I have had a fit note to cover me all the way through with no gaps. And it's my first time going through all this.0

That's good @chalkyman, if everything is right then I believe your payments should have started the beginning of May 2023. If your WCA had been in time. So payments should be backdated to then if everything goes well.1

@Jimm_Scope thank you very much0

I think perhaps a typo crept in, as if your assessment periods are from the 22nd to the 21st, then I reckon you get your UC on the 28th. So, the 3 full month waiting period before the extra element is paid is Feb - Mar, Mar - Apr & Apr -May, with LCWRA element due from the assessment period 22 May - 21 Jun. As this is paid in arrears, then payment is due from 28 Jun 2023. So, so far you're owed 7 months backpay.This is presuming, as you said, 'we,' that your partner isn't already claiming LCWRA, as only one LCWRA element is payable with a joint claim.0

I would take what @chiarieds says over my own words @chalkyman. I am still learning about the benefits system despite being here many months. Forgive me if I gave you hope of more than you will actually be getting!0

@chiarieds @Jimm_Scope thank you both for your help. Tbh anything is better than nothing. I'm the only one that gets this as partner works part time. It's just nice to make some headway after a year of being messed around. I started this process after being fired for being disabled with out them actually stating it was for this reason. Just want some sort of normality. I was bullied in my previous employment because of my disability and won that as it involved senior members of staff. They no longer part of the company because of this. Just thanks again for your help as I said before it's been a difficult process mentally and this helped hugely.2
