Hello everyone.
I have found useful information on scoope before so decided to join and see if anyone can advise me on applying for a blue badge?
i have just had standard rate mobility added to my PIP claim so don't automatically have enough points for a blue badge.
I can walk with the help of a stick across a carpark but my problem is getting out of the car. Normal parking restricts me from opening the door fully and I need to swivel my self around and put both feet on the floor to be able to get out.
My pain is so much worse when standing up and takes me a few steps to get moving. I sometimes have to stand holding onto the door for a short time until I feel able to walk and trust my knees or ankles not to give way.
All I really want is to have enough room to get in and out because when a carp park is busy I then end up having to park further away so I can have room to get out safely and not worrying about other peoples doors and who's going to end up parking beside me. Plus then gives me an extra long walk to get where I need to be.
Would this qualify me for a blue badge?
Hope someone may be in the same predicament who has successfully applied may be able to advisea.
Thank you everyone in advance

Hi @Jackie63 - & welcome! I think it's down to a person's local authority if you don't automatically qualify for a Blue Badge. There's some info here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/blue-badge-can-i-get-one/can-i-get-a-blue-badge if you scroll down to 'People who may get a Blue badge' & pain is certainly mentioned. You can find out more about this from your local council: https://www.gov.uk/blue-badge-scheme-information-council
