Hhhh my pixie the same she's a yorkie and if you have a plate on the side she will look at you then the plate over and over amber do you have 15 cats wow that's amazing

They're so funny aren't they? My old yorkie Jack used to dislike carrots but I'd put a few on his plate, he'd put it in his mouth for a couple of seconds but then would spit it out, but then he'd do it again and again and again with each carrot till they were all around/off his plate. They're such characters โค๏ธ ๐ .

I fet fresh chicken for the cats and they go crackers for it literally squealing and fighting for a piece
I did ring the Dr's surgery was so busy I pressed 1 for a call back
Took the reception 45 minutes to return my call
She s put me on the list for a phone call this morning so I can . Explain how bad reaction I had to the meds

Nurse just rang
I explained how bad a reaction was to the blood thinner
She's sent another prescription for apixaban different one to the pharmacy
Wants me to get it today
She said I'm. Very high risk of stroke
I said can't I wait til my cardiology appointment
She said no as I. Could have a stroke any time
What if this, med upsets me too
I can't function like a zombie
Who else would care for my cats
Nobody
They need me
But I can't be a zombie either
I. Mentioned my freind who. Hates all Dr's and vets and totally believe s in hostilic therapies
Nurse said no no no
And said not enough evidence they work
I'm. So torn and upset my online freind would be so angry and worried if I. Took Dr's new drug
She's totally vonv Dr's meds are dangerous and will kill me
Nurse thinks the opposite
I'm. Very upset now
I. Feel like I'm. Been pulled apart. Nurse in 1 corner, online freind in the other both claiming they no what's best for me
I. Can't take both together as they would interact
What should I do

The cats are
All I have
I have to be in control of my faculty s

Hi @Amberpearl Your GP and the nurse are obviously very concerned about your health. Changing the blood thinner does not mean you will get the same side effects. It really would be best if you could try the Apixaban.
Your cats need you to be as well as you can be so please listen to the nurse and not your friend. The nurse knows what other medication you are on and therefore knows how each drug reacts to each other.
Please take care of yourself and try not to stress as this will make your symptoms worse.

@Amberpearl I cared for many patients on Apixaban and honestly cannot say I had any that had bad (or any) side effects. I'm not saying you can't get side effects as all medications can cause them but it is a very, very commonly used medication and the risk of a stroke is very real in untreated AF. There are no guarantees with anything but I personally would rather accept the risk of side effects from a medication than having a stroke or heart attack from just leaving AF untreated. It will not just go away on its own.
I hope you make the right decision for yourself first and your little cat family. You owe it to yourself and them.
If I may say so you don't owe it to your friend whose recommendations have the potential to be reckless and dangerous to you; and very misguided. What kind of friend would be angry with you for taking the advice of a specialist nurse or a GP practice nurse; I'd expect my friend to be supportive of my decision and that they had a bit of maturity in their advice.
Sorry to be so blunt. We care about you @Amberpearl and want you to stay as well as you possibly can to enjoy each day but you have to make your own decision being fully informed which, I think from what your nurse said, you now are.
I hope you find that they are straightforward to adjust to. Take good care and lots of ๐ซ to you xx

By the way @Amberpearl , as well as qualifying as a nurse in 2013 I've always had an interest in holistic therapies. I'm a qualified reflexologist and Reiki Master for nearly 20 years as well as Colour Therapist, Crystal Healing and Chakra Balancing Therapist. I practised all of these regularly until I became very unwell from Covid.
My point is that of course there's a place for holistic therapies. They cannot, however, take the place of conventional drugs. Nor, imo, can homeopathy. I am very grateful for all of the drugs I am on daily (including antibiotics and my heart medications especially!) that so far, have kept me here, as 'mother' to my beloved dogs ๐ ๐ซ xx

Aaawww, little Pixie came from Gumtree. That's reminded me my Aloysius came from Preloved (I'd never bought a pet online before/wouldn't ordinarily). The previous owner sent me photos of him sitting in a big cage (all 2kgs of him!) with a huge bulldog type of breed. I'm pretty sure I know which one was trouble ๐ซ . Attached a photo of the offender ! xx

Oh I'm not clever at all @Amberpearl, I was just very passionate to learn after my previous 'corporate' career of 20yrs. I did the holistic courses over c 6 years in total including at night school. I was never naturally academic (only CSEs/poor grades at school ๐คญ). I had amazing support including financial off my employers in the City to complete my personnel management IPD but hever foubd it easy. I was very lucky worked for the loveliest people even though the environments were not for the feint-hearted. I'm proud but just really for keeping my own integrity/values and caring, including in my HR career. I shouldn't really have fitted in the city but somehow I did.
Don't know quite how I got through my nurse training, 3 part time jobs in 2nd and 3rd year, 3 dogs to look after, looked after my lovely mum a lot (3 cancers and 2 dementias ๐) and studied top up modules for the degree. I/my life was a whirlwind. I miss that. Even gets to me saying that, so very different now and the worry re Green Paper.
You've got a busy day tomorrow, I'd be as kind to yourself as possible for today and rest as much as you can, conserve your energy for tomorrow ๐.
I'm not really retired but I dont work, I'm 62 and was off sick from my nursing job 22 times in 2 years plus all 8 weeks holiday I was ill but they allowed me to call it holiday to reduce my ever-increasing sick time (I didn't know for sure then that I had Long Covid). Anyway lost 2 jobs and 30 diagnoses later I'm not well enough so I'm on benefits (UC/LCWRA and PIP standard daily living). I was off ill for 3 days in 20 years in my previous career, sad really.
Sorry, I can't half go off on a tangent!! I hope you have a relaxing afternoon, you've been through the mill this last few months really. Take time to really look after yourself whilst enjoying the love of your little cats ๐ซ xx
