Hello I'm new here but I am disabled and have an Autistic adult daughter who has complex trauma and other physical issues going on now she has an award from pip but has been under review for the award for a while now they sent a text that her review would be happening in Feb so we expected a assessment over the phone to be happening but two days ago she was called and her friend answered the phone and he told her that she would get a call from pip and would be having an assessment over the phone for 10 minutes with out warning and so she did the phone call but she answered the questions incorrectly because she didn't want to worry them..I'm afraid that because I was not there the award will change the fact she even managed a call is amazing as she' really struggles with anything around things like this but it was out of fear that she took the call

She also said that she said she didn't have suicidal thoughts because she didn't want to worry them...but that's not the case she's had multiple meltdowns where she has stated that she is suicidal and wants to die and I've been so worried she's very good at thinking about what she thinks they want to hear x0

My question is is there any one else who had a a 10 minute telephone review without warning???and is this something that is allowed?because I am there because of her mental health and pain because she only accepted the call after a couple of weeks of antibiotics as she would never have been able to manage to take the call alone should I complain or ask for another review?0

Hi there @Guppygirl_47 (loving the name) and a big welcome to the community!
Regarding the call with 10 minutes warning, I have heard of this happening in the past, but I'm not 100% sure on the legalities of it all. It may be worth calling the DWP to explain that you were not around for the call if you're classed as her carer.
But on a positive note, I'm so glad she managed to take the call. As a phone-phobic myself, I know what a huge deal that can be.1 -
It may have been a phone call just to ask a few questions to see if a paper based assessment could be done. When they do this they don’t usually send appointment times out.
Are you your daughter’s official appointee?0 -
It is positive she took the call but this is one in a million chance and not at all normal or is shocking that she managed ...no she did ask me to be her appointee but I didn't want to receive the money as I thought she needed to learn how to budget and understand bills and budgets and its personal independence payment and so if she could learn from receiving the pip then I thought it was vital to her and she does become a bit ocd about her budget but thats so much better than her not being in control of her own finances xxthanks for any responses from people i really appreciate your input0

I. Also severely disabled Which happened later in life so I would not be able to care for her but she i is supported by many people who are there to help and support her.....she's really physically unwell and has been all her life which I can't even imagine as I was healthy until later in my life x she's in pain all the time but she is learning to live without me because I won't be around forever and I need her to try to be as independent as possible...with no expectations of being totally independent x0
