After a diagnosis I've been advised to apply for PIP and have received the forms, however having spent my whole life managing with coping strategies I am finding it really hard to unpick what's needed for the form. has anyone managed successfully who could get in touch and give me some advise?

There's a guide here that may help. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/help-with-your-claim/fill-in-form-pip/

PIP isn't about a diagnosis. Whether there's any entitlement will depend on how your conditions affect you.

I'd also advise you to include a couple of real world examples of exactly what happened the last time you attempted each descriptor that applies to you. Include detailed information such as, where you were, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were.

Make sure you keep it relevant to the descriptors. They do not need to know your life story. Use extra sheets of paper because I always find there's never enough of room in the form to include all the information.

Please make sure you add your name and NI number on everything you send. If you have any additional supporting evidence then you should send that with the form. If you need extra time to return it then you can ring PIP to ask and they will give a couple of extra weeks.
