I use a powerchair and my needs have changed what do I do if I can't find any chair which meets my needs? Do I need to just put up with the best I can find whether it's from wheelchair services or I buy it myself.

hi @littleacorn i personaly think you shoud use both sides- use the NHS wheelchair service to get a voucher perhaps, and then put it towards a bespoke powerchair youve picked yourself-if you can afford to get one brand new.
so if you arent sure what to look at,you coud try researching and then renting it,as there are quite a few national companies out there who rent out on very short term lease (a week upwards i think) powerchairs, manual chairs and mobility scooters.

my physical condition is progresive (damage to my spine and spinal nerves from over restraining while sectioned in a learning disabillity hospital) and i will end up in a power chair to at some point in my life but im currently a very lightweight rigid active wheelchair (highly bespoke quickie nitrum) user and the NHS wheelchair services were terrible with me,ive used them for many years, they assumed my current care service woud be pushing me like every other residential home ive lived in, so theyve alwways given me useless heavyweight NHS wheelchairs.the service wont push me as theyre not insured or all trained in moving and handling in order to push wheelchairs but they never told the wheelchair service this.so i now buy my wheelchairs fully bespoke and brand new threw the shop; complete care as no matter where you are in the UK they will send specialists to your place and go threw all options and what is suitable for you and your needs, they usualy send an OT with the wheelchair specialist.

I have done lots of research into products both those here and made abroad and cant find a power chair for me.  Wheelchair services and a large private seller selling many various manufactures  and models can't find a design that meets my needs. So what can I do? The chairs need to be altered so much moving seat position forward which effects the foot plates positions making the wheels unable to move. It needs to be low to the ground. This does not exist unless you know something different.
