I've finally got all my statements sent off to DWP 5 years worth which is quite alot lol but nearly sorted it's only because DWP wanted to check what savings I had which is none now but in 2018 I got quite a large amount of money backdated and this is were it's got confusing but as I said before the man who is dealing with it has been really nice and patient with me which helps ☺️

It's because I recieved backdated money and still had some left which was classed as having too much saved but thankfully it's sorted now 🙂

If you're on Universal Credit, you can have up to £16,000 saved.

However, they need to be informed of any savings between £6000 and £16,000. There is a deduction in payments for savings in that range.

Same rules apply to all Income Related benefits. Council Tax reduction maybe different because some Local Authorities have a maximum savings limit of £6,000 before entitlement ends. Single person discount is not affected by savings.
