LCWRA and Support Group question

Hi thanks for letting me join. I'm on New Style ESA and had my work assement 2 weeks ago. I asked for a copy of my report and the assessor said I met the criteria for Limited capability for work and work activity. I'm really pleased with the decision but I'm confused. I know the LCWRA is more related to Universal Credit butbi don't claim any UC atall. So I was wondering why I might be inbthis group and not ESA support. I thought that would have been more relevant. Thank you.

LCWRA and Support Group are both the same thing. You just need to wait for the decision, which can take anything up to 12 weeks.0

Hello @Sunnyarran04 and welcome to the community.

I see you've already had your question answered, but I wanted to stop in, say hello and wish you the best of luck with the decision. Will you let us know when you get a reply please? We're always about if you need support.

Just to add if you were to claim UC at any stage in the future your New Style ESA will be deducted in full from your UC entitlement. However, as UC only covers Class 3 NI contributions ( for your state pension ) you would still be in a better position as New Style ESA covers Class 1 NI contributions - entitling you to certain other welfare benefits besides the state pension.

Thank for advice. I don't know if I would get LCWRA as my hubby works and has savings over £16 k so think it will be just ESA support group. Xx0

Then you're correct, having £16,000 and over for savings you will both be excluded from claiming UC.Sunnyarran04 said:Thank for advice. I don't know if I would get LCWRA as my hubby works and has savings over £16 k so think it will be just ESA support group. Xx0 -
Many thanks Poppy. Xx1
