Do I need to reapply for carers allowance?

Hi I was wondering if you could help me my sister in law went into a hospice on Xmas eve for 8 /9 weeks . My carers allowance was stopped do I need to reapply for it?? Your help would be much appreciated.

I hope your sister in law is feeling better just now. How are you doing?
Carer's Allowance will often stop several weeks after the person being cared for is in hospital/hospice/care home. When they leave the hospice and you are caring for them again you need to re-apply for it. If you've already begun caring for them again you can re-apply and request it to be backdated to when you started caring for them again. It can be backdated up to three months as long as you meet the eligibility for the time period you request the backdate claim for.
