I just want to say thank you for letting me join. I have been so lonely with my mum dying at christmas. Being a carer for your parents for over 20 years and then it's all gone. I am very isolated, so thanks its great that i have people to talk too.

Hi @diddydi, I'm sorry to hear about your mum passing. I am not assuming how you feel, but I wonder if you aren't just missing her, are you also missing having something to do? Some purpose?
As said, sorry if my wondering is incorrect, just let me know.
When my grandma passed away, my grandad struggled for a while. Not just because he of course missed his partner, but because he felt like he wasn't doing anything anymore. He started to help around the care home with painting and gardening, as well as volunteering at his church. It really helped him process everything.
If you've cared for your parents for 20 years you must be quite experienced at caring, if it something you like doing are there maybe any care charities or volunteer associations in your area? With your experience I imagine you could even get a paid role somewhere if you also need the money.
Let us know how you're doing, you are of course always welcome to chat here. Take a look at all our different categories, there's plenty of topics to talk about here!0
