Make sure to research the right to buy as a lot of councils don’t allow it on newer tenancy’s or the discount is practically nothing0 -

Ok I’ve just sent an email letter to my local mp 🤞0
-
Update : the mp office replied this morning they said they will be writing to the council on my behalf .
I feel like crying .. they heard me.0 -
I hope it makes things much more quickly for you now @sarahw85, please keep up updated with how you're getting on.1

Thanks Adrian!0

Update I got another email from my local mp today saying he has sent a letter out to my council and that they will let me know if they have a response.Very good news0

tomorrow marks 21 weeks since my med b award im feeling very disheartened having been told to private rent as it will be a long wait as there is a housing crisis. it seems too many people are making themselves intentionally homeless just to get a place faster than those who really need it :( im just saving my money for a deposit now

It's nothing to do with people making themselves intentionally homeless because if you do that then a LA will refuse to help you.
21 weeks may seem like a long time but for social housing, it really isn't.

Have you had any updates? Not heard from you in awhile

absolutely nothing 🙁

Are they letting you bid on properties or are they doing it on your behalf?
0 -
there is no bidding system . They said they run a waiting list and that I need to trust that I will receive a direct offer when I am first on the system . They won’t even tell me what position I am in in the queue
0 -
Will they even tell you how long the waiting list is @sarahw85?
0 -
All I’ve been told is there were 74 applicants in Band 1, 155 in Band 2 and 391 in Band 3 and these will be in order of the date they joined

Well, that doesn't seem very helpful at all. I know they can't really predict when homes will free up so it's difficult to be given a time estimate, but it would be nice to know at least where roughly you are in the queue I guess.

They just keep saying to private rent everytime I chase them up. Very disheartening.

oh my goodness I was on the phone to my sister this afternoon on loudspeaker .. and I was flicking through my phone and I’ve just been sent a direct offer 🥹.
Let me arrange a viewing before celebrating anything but it’s one of the areas of my choice and a lovely little road next to a nice park . I can’t concentrate

Sounds really promising @sarahw85! Fingers crossed!
