Hi guys,
just looking for a bit of advice regarding a PIP payment I’ve received. I initially applied for PIP in November 2023, had my phone assessment in Feb 2024 and received a message on 14th March saying that I have been awarded PIP which is wonderful and will help loads as I’m unable to work.

However on the 19th I received a payment of £184 from “DWP PIP” and I’m still waiting for my award letter to come through (I know there’s a Royal Mail backlog so not worried about that) but I’m unsure what this payment is? Is it back payment or just a random amount they’ve sent? Thank you for any advice.

Hi @Bentley_432 welcome to the community!
Congratulations on your PIP award, that must be a huge relief? It does sound like that could be some backpay owed, it usually arrives separate to your actual monthly PIP payments.Albus (he/him)

Did you have the difficulties for at least 3 months before you started your claim? If so then it should be paid from the date you rang to start your claim.
If not then this maybe why. You need to ring PIP in the morning and ask them, they will be able to give more information than we can.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
