Yes you should inform UC that you're claiming DLA for your son. If he receives any rate of DLA then you will be entitled to the lower disabled child element. If he's claiming high rate care you will be entitled to the higher disabled child element.
Although you didn't report it, you should still be entitled to the disabled child element from the assessment period in which the DLA was awarded from.
It will be down to a decision maker to make the final decision.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
Ok Thankyou very much x

Hi @PaulFov, welcome to the Scope online community I can't answer any better than Poppy has but do let us know if you need to ask anymore questions.
I hope you inform UC as soon as possible and good luck with getting the disabled child element backdated. How long has your son been receiving DLA if you don't mind me asking?
I'll just move this over to our Universal Credit category incase you do have further questionsThey/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

So there's been 2 years since he got the higher rate of DLA and now?
I'd inform the DWP as soon as possible, tell them when the DLA was awarded from and request backdating if you have not been receiving the disabled child element of Universal Credit.They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with
