Yes you should inform UC that you're claiming DLA for your son. If he receives any rate of DLA then you will be entitled to the lower disabled child element. If he's claiming high rate care you will be entitled to the higher disabled child element.
Although you didn't report it, you should still be entitled to the disabled child element from the assessment period in which the DLA was awarded from.
It will be down to a decision maker to make the final decision.2 -
Ok Thankyou very much x0

Hi @PaulFov, welcome to the Scope online community
I can't answer any better than Poppy has but do let us know if you need to ask anymore questions.
I hope you inform UC as soon as possible and good luck with getting the disabled child element backdated. How long has your son been receiving DLA if you don't mind me asking?
I'll just move this over to our Universal Credit category incase you do have further questions0 -
Hi Jimm it’s approx x2 years that he got award for high rate Thankyou0

So there's been 2 years since he got the higher rate of DLA and now?
I'd inform the DWP as soon as possible, tell them when the DLA was awarded from and request backdating if you have not been receiving the disabled child element of Universal Credit.1 -
Ok Thankyou0

hi @poppy,
I also got DLA for my son since 1/10/24 but I don’t know where online on Universal Credit I should report it.
when I go to report a change of circumstances there are subgroups:Work
Living with partner
Bank account
Contact details
Childcare Cost
Going outside GB
Health
Caring for someone
Children and other people who live with me
Personal details
Where you live and what it cost
Money
Which would be the most relevant subgroup

As it's a change related to your child, I would use "children and other people who live with me".
