I am wondering if DWP DM have a medical knowledge I recently had review I have CP Epilepsy and now been diagnosed with CKD which makes life much difficult especially moving around just couple of days ago I got letter from DWP they still don’t want give me a high payment on mobility to be able rent a wheelchair from Mobility scheme as I use walking aid and brace to be able to walk I am wondering if one of the decision makers employed by DWP have an idea what medical conditions they make decisions look like for example how difficult life would be when you have stairs outside the house or you struggle go to hospital because you need go to bus stop how these DM make decisions on the old report making people life hell just because these people in my opinion have no knowledge about illness or condition this problem in this country these assessments are joke because from now on I will take taxi everywhere and send them bill for the each taxi trip

Hey there @marinna67 I'm sorry to hear about your review. With PIP, it's not about what disabilities you have, it's about showing how your disabilities affect each of the PIP descriptors. Will you be asking for a mandatory reconsideration?0

I know that but I have submitted them evidence from neurologist and other specialists about my condition I have difficulty with walking to the risk of falls it been specified my carers do planning of journey and we have manual wheelchair 👩🦽 I am unable to use due to one hand because I am unable to use it I am end up sitting at home watching TV I even don’t go for my epilepsy clinic I do them by phone just because CKD started affecting my walking it started to be difficult looking like when you getting closer to the bus stop for example distance between you and bus stop suddenly became much longer and reaching this bus stop takes times I probably will apply for Taxi card as I have more difficulty to walk maybe 🤔 for people who think 2 min of walking it nothing but for me it distance normally able bodies person walking in 30 seconds I am walking because I don’t have choice I can’t drive because of my epilepsy and I sent them evidence and sometimes I think they just use this evidence letter from my neurologist just simply refuse higher mobility element because I don’t need go out or they simply coping previous assessment report just because earlier or they simply don’t want give higher mobility element with the hope something can change to the best I am happy they not took away my PIP away but for me person who have multiple chronic condition concerning how people who work as DM in DWP are they have a medical knowledge and ability to judge people on their condition? Are they competent make decisions they make? Or we sending evidence just for the stunning and put in our files and nothing else I tried phone them yesterday Friday and look like lines been closed I just wanted ask them for assessor report to read how they made their decision and if I need to do MR Mandatory Reconsideration0

Assessors are medically trained, often nurses etc. Decision makers are not.
Taken from the government website;
"Decisions on benefit entitlement are made by non medical decision makers. Decision makers will use your report and will seek the advice of an experienced healthcare professional trained in disability assessment to review and interpret the report where needed."
I've been reading that a lot of people have been having trouble getting through on the phones this week. I'm hoping you're able to ask for your report on Monday.1
