Hi could some 1 tell me why they have said I’m not entitled to back pay ???
Recently I have been back dated for HRC as I was only being payed for LRC …
my mom has recently started claiming CA for my son end of 2023 .
my mom has recently started claiming CA for my son end of 2023 .
I was unaware of care component. as I work didn’t think I could claim this as it’s different to carers allowance I know CA u have to earn under a certain amount each month .
So I asked for the Care component to be back dated from 2022 when I started to review HRC . This has gone to a MR and there decision have said NO as I have not provided enough evidence to why I didn’t claim it bfore now …. What evidence can I provide (special circumstances) to be accepted to backdated payment ?
Regards

I have read this several times but I'm still confused. If your son has recently been backdated HRC from LRC (assuming it's DLA) What care component are you referring to?
I don't understand this here..stacey1994 said:I was unaware of care component. as I work didn’t think I could claim this as it’s different to carers allowance I know CA u have to earn under a certain amount each month .
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
Heya @stacey1994 and welcome to the community!
Usually the DWP will need to see proof special circumstances (hospital stays, bad health, etc) for why you hadn't previously claimed. They tend not to accept not knowing about it as a valid reason unfortunately. They expect us to know the ins and outs already.Albus (he/him)
