I have a student that needs to access mental health support regarding struggling with being disabled.
I've contacted a number of mental health support agencies who say they aren't the agencies for her due to her being non verbal voca user. Can anyone help signpost me to appropriate mental health support agencies please.

hi @kMCNICHOLAS and welcome to the community. :)

I'm afraid I cant think of any off the top of my head, but hopefully a community member will see your post ad be able to offer some support soon. Have the local council not been able to advise at all?

Has the student not received support from  their GP in this process? The GP is a valuable ally, capable of referring to mental health services and offering advice customised to the student's communication needs. Collaborating closely with the GP ensures the student receives the specialised support they need. Additionally, does your college/school have a welfare officer who can provide assistance and guidance?

Consider involving their parent/guardian or carer if the student agrees. By discussing the challenges they're experiencing in accessing support and brainstorming solutions together, it empowers the student and their support network. This ensures everyone is aligned and working together towards the common goal of improving the student's mental well-being.

Lastly, your advocacy for this student is invaluable. Sometimes, simply knowing that someone cares and is fighting for them can make a world of difference.
