Hi
One of the things I documented on my claim form is that I really struggle communicating with people, reason being I have polyps on my vocal chords, which causes my voice to be so hoarse, that people cannot hear me or even understand me. I have had about 20 operations on my vocal chords in the past 6 years, after I have an operation my voice is ok for about 2-3 weeks before it’s hoarse again.
So my voice at the moment is probably the worst it’s ever been, but I have got an operation 1 week before my phone assessment, my concern is that when I have my phone assessment my voice will sound relatively ok, because of just having an operation 1 week before.
I don’t want this to go against me, because of having an operation a week before, I was even contemplating putting my operation back to after I’ve had my assessment, but that would be totally irresponsible of me, so I’m not doing that. Should I phone Pip before my operation so that it can be heard how bad my voice is?
I would just like some advice as this is a bit of a worry for me.
Regards
Gary

No, you shouldn't ring PIP before the assessment. When you ring PIP or any other DWP department you are speaking to someone from a call centre and that isn't going to help.
During the assessment just be honest and tell them exactly what happens, though you should have done this when you filled out the form. Did you send evidence of past operations for the same thing?
Remember PIP is about how you are on the majority of the days so at least 50% of the days in a 12 month period.0 -
Hi, thank you for your response, yes I did put In down on the forms and told them. Obviously I will go into more detail when I have my assessment.Once again thank you poppy123456.0
