Hi everyone, I've just had a pip phone assessment which I was feeling good that day,I was getting high rate and my award came through and i have only been given £,28 a week! So because of that my esa has gone down £80 A Week too...so I've lost nearly £1000 a month... losing the car too!
If this wasn't enough my adult kids who are working live with me and my rent council tax was paid but because I don't get that part of pip anymore I just received a letter saying that I would have to pay £900 council tax yr and £500 rent! I'm only on £700 a month now,my adult son who works is on high rate pip would I get my rent paid if he gets pip or does it need to be me? I don't know how they think il Live... my mental health has gone with a massive bang again!!

Hey there @Nura welcome to the community. :)

I'm sorry to hear about your DWP issues. I'm a bit confused as you've said your PIP has been reduced to £28 per week is that correct? Is that just for standard rate mobility?  You are able to ask for a Mandatory reconsideration if you believe they're incorrect with their award.

I'm just going to move your post to the benefits category, so more people in the know will be able to see and hopefully offer some top support. I hope that's OK?

Your son claiming PIP will not exclude from non dependent deductions for housing benefit. If he's under 25 and claiming either UC with no earnings or Income Related JSA/ESA or Income Support there will be no deductions.

You also indicted there's other adult children living at home with you who work so there will be non dependent deductions for each one, depending on their earnings. See link.https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/benefits/housing_benefit_deductions_when_living_with_non_dependants

This is because you no longer claim daily living PIP and those that live with you are expected to contribute towards the rent.

Are you challenging the PIP decision?

You also mention your ESA has reduced by £80/week. This tells me that your ESA included the Severe disability Premium. However, as you have your son's living with you then you would only be entitled to the SDP if all of those children are either claiming a qualifying disability premium or they are registered blind. If not then I wouldn't expect your ESA to include the SDP.
