Hi @Juliaann, welcome to the community. My family used to foster, we had some lovely kids over the years.
There might be slightly different rules depending on your Local Authority, but you can usually still foster if you're on benefits. If you're looking into fostering with private companies, they will have their own rules and you'd need to check with them.
Both private and Local Authority fostering may want to look into whether you'd be able to cope with your conditions as well as meeting the needs of the child or children. But disability is not necessarily seen a negative thing, especially if you're coping well and have got plenty of support around
I'm not 100% sure whether the allowance you'd receive from fostering would need to be reported to Universal Credit, that might be something you'd have to ask about on your journal. It's not technically a wage as it's designed to help you with costs for the children, so it's not generally seen as income. PIP should be unaffected as it's not means tested. It's also worth considering whether the childcare you'd be doing goes against the reasons why you're claiming PIP and LCWRA, as sometimes that can cause issues along the line.
I hope that's at least a little bit helpful! I'll pop your post over to our Children and Families section where more members can find it too0 -
Hi Rosie thank you so much for your reply I will look into this with the foster company. X1
