That's great @Beaver79
I've just started to learn recently. Perhaps ew could set up a group to exchange hints and tips on the game? -

I was in chess club many years ago when I was in secondary school, we used to play chess on our lunch-hour, it was fun, we'd hold small tournaments and we had a leaderboard that we created.
Sadly, I haven't played in a long time, I don't like playing against a computer, I like to play against a person in real-life with a real chess board/pieces. -
Hey folks, just to let you know I've moved the post into the coffee lounge, so it doesn't get drowned in all the games going on.Albus (he/him)

Often we didn't have long enough for a game though, lunch break was an hour and that included eating your lunch so a game had to be finished in like 30-40 mins -
Hi Folks
Perhaps we could set up a chess club here? -
Sadly not, my Dad did try hard to teach me many many years ago but I failed miserably.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

I read that as does anyone play cheese!🤣 Clicked on it straight away!
But I do know how to play chess. Haven't played for many years though. -
@onedayatatime
You gave me an idea
Make the chess board pieces out of cheese
Then when you capture an opponent's piece, you get to eat it -
@66Mustang That is an absolute brilliant idea!!
I would starve though 🤣
What would you suggest for the Queen piece? I'm thinking a ripe smelly blue cheese and all the pawns are crackers. 👍 -
Cheesse Board
But seriously, I have played a little bit of chess but I can't say I am very good at it.
Wonder if we could set up a little sort of friendly games? I know there's a free online chess site that could be used.They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

I used to play a lot of chess in my youth, but I'm not sure if I'd be any good as an opponent these days. Especially as I refuse to call the knights anything other than "Snorsies"Albus (he/him)

Hi Folks
Many thanks for your replies.
Yes, I agree with Jimm_Scope, we could set up friendly matches and perhaps a chess group here.
