Hi all, I first called DWP in January 24. I had my assessment on 26th March and my case is still in internal audit. I've been signed off work already for 2 months and just been signed off for a further 2months. I'm struggling day by day and stressing out to the point of ending all!. With no timescale I'm sat here waiting what can be for months or even years for someone else to look over my assessment.

Claiming benefits does take time unfortunately. You don't mention which benefit this is related to but you do mention being signed off work so is this the work capability assessment decision you're waiting for?

When a report is chosen for audit at random there's no timescales how long it will remain there for. Once it's completed it will be returned and then a decision can take anything up to about 12 weeks.

Hi poppy, It was for my pip assessment, I got diagnosed with fibromyalgia in December along with mental health issues. I'm hating everything mainly being stuck in bed

Yes i see what your saying, but I don't get the no timescale from the assessors. My anxiety is going off the scale with not knowing.

I read that some people have their assessment in audit for 2-3 weeks. I just want to know where I stand and if I'm waiting for nothing(as in knowing how my assessment went).

It will have been the audit that's delayed the decision process because that can't be made until the report has been returned.

It can often take up to about 6 months for a decision after starting a claim so you're within that timeframe still.

It's not just backlogs that cause delays, it's each individual case that also cause delays. Someone may have a decision quite quickly and someone else not as quick, it's just the way it is.

I've been advising people for many years and I've yet to find anyone that doesn't find the process extremely stressful.

As for being signed off work, that's irrelevant for PIP anyway because it's not about your ability to work. Once a decision is made you will be contacted.
