Hi @cupcake88, I know it's difficult, but please don't panic. Nothing will be happening immediately. The proposals are currently in consultation and the general election may change things too, so it's important that for now you just look after yourself and try not to worry about it if you can. Lots of members have been worried too, so you're not alone in how you're feeling and we're all here to support each other through it all. We'll keep everyone up to date with any information we find out :)

We don't know what will happen yet. It's unlikely they'd get rid of PIP completely, but there might be some changes. Scope have written an explanation about the proposals here if you'd like to read it. As I said earlier, nothing will be happening quickly, so it's best not to worry about it too much at this stage :)

As said it's just a proposal, likely by people who will more than likely be relatively powerless before they get any chance to execute their ideas, nothing is set in stone

I know it's easier said than done but don't worry

Thank you for this, I will take part. I agree with about making sure to do what you can.

The form indicates where they want to go which is back to relying on medical diagnosis, I remember how DLA was many years ago where they had a over reliance on medical diagnosis, the tribunal case I won the DWP kept putting up the same denial reason "lack of clinical evidence" as if they think people without a diagnosis cant be disabled, the tribunal threw their defense out as inadequate.

An additional thought on this, if they already consulting then the wheels already are in motion at the DWP, so this has moved on from a plan to in motion stage.

I think to say this is already "in motion" is getting quite ahead of ourselves.

Let's for instance compare this to the WCA consultation from last year. The consultation was in Autumn of 2023, and changes from that consultation aren't looking to be implemented until 2025 at the earliest last I checked.

Any plans to wipe out assessments companies like Capita from PIP system?

Government spend over  £2 billion to the private sector companies over five years.

We are quite far away from being able to say if it is likely to happen or not. Not only do we not know the outcome of the consultation, there is the question of who will be in government after the current election which can change a lot as well!
