During the live House of Lords session earlier this evening, Scope was referenced as Peers responded to the Health and Disability Reform statement, with a focus on PIP.
I was struck by the candid accounts shared by two Baronesses, who recounted the personal struggles of their friends and relatives who have navigated the PIP application process, including instances where initial applications were rejected.
One Baroness had concerns about the future support of her relative resonated deeply, as she wondered who would continue to advocate on their behalf once she was no longer available. One Peer expressed concern about the harmful and sensationalised press coverage.
Throughout the debate, a palpable sense of empathy and understanding pervaded the discussion, with many Peers demonstrating genuine compassion towards all disabled individuals.
